This study day is for primary care nurses and allied health who work alongside whanau living with diabetes. During the middle of the day we will focus on obesity, sandwiched between CHF and gout. We have some excellent speakers bringing a wealth of experience, and will have time for questions, and opportunities to meet the pharmaceutical representatives.
8.45am – 9.00am: Registration and welcome
9.00am- 9.15am: Karakia, introductions, and housekeeping (Aldrin Arguelles)
9.15am – 10.00am: Gout is not a lifestyle disease (Charlotte Barnes and Helen Morton)
10.00am – 10.20am: Meet the reps (Speed dating!)
10.20am – 10.40am: Morning tea - provided
10.45am – 11.45am: Medical management of obesity (Dr Ryan Paul)
11.45am – 12.30pm: Surgical management of obesity (Carlie Heath (RN Taylor Clinics))
12.30pm – 1.00pm: Whanau Voice (Special guest speaker)
1.00pm – 1.45pm: Lunch – BYO or visit the local cafes, and spend time with the reps
1.45pm – 2.30pm: Chronic Heart Failure (Julia Reynolds (CNS Heart Foundation))
2.30pm – 3.15pm: Living in a world where skinny is good (Eating disorders team)
3.15pm – 3.45pm: Pulling it together and take-home messages
3.30pm – 4.00pm: Evaluation and Karakia (PHO diabetes leads)
